Sales Engineer/Sales Manager – UK Sales Office
Location: Location: Based in Buckinghamshire, England


The Role:
Based in our UK Sales Office in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England, and working with our Director of Sales & Marketing, our Sales Engineer/Sales Manager UK will be:
Selling a range of engineering solutions, systems and equipment used in the offshore oil and gas and shipyard industries to drilling contractors, oil companies and engineering/design firms;
Business development, managing existing accounts and identifying and developing new business opportunities;
Travelling frequently to meet customers throughout the UK and Europe. Travel may also include Russia, Africa, the U.S., South America and South East Asia.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or other technical background and/or related experience.
  • Sales experience; candidates with sales experience in the oil and gas or related industry will be preferred.
  • International capital sales and service.
  • Strong presentation and delivery skills.
  • Exceptional client servicing and relationship development skills.
  • Proactive and self motivated with the ability to work autonomously with high levels of drive, determination and follow through.
  • Able to travel internationally without restrictions (sometimes on short notice) and be away for several weeks at a time.
  • Able to work at the High Wycombe, Bucks, England office.
  • Current UK and EU residents preferred.

CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER - INDUSTRIAL
Location: Corporate Headquarters, Goleta/Santa Barbara, California

The Role:

  • Reviews customer specification requirements and designs electrical, hydraulic and mechanical controls and automated systems for heavy machinery and hydraulic equipment;
  • Operates computer-assisted design software to model and develop electric and hydraulic schematics and wiring, control and logic diagrams;
  • Programs PLC control systems;
  • Assists project engineers to support customers’ needs.

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a focus on automation and industrial controls
  • 7 or more years of successful experience designing controls for machinery or industrial equipment, including embedded control systems and/or control of electric and hydraulic motors and associated systems
  • Hands-on experience with phase power and control electronics and software
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, AutoCad and controls-related software
  • Experience with Siemens STEP 7 and Rockwell ControlLogix PLC programming languages and structured programming techniques, sensors and system diagnostics and datalinks
  • Knowledge of communications protocols such as Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet IP
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and environmental compliance standards
  • Knowledge of NEMA, NEC, IEC, API and industry standards a plus
  • Knowledge of the application of electrical equipment for explosive gas environments (hazardous area requirements) including ATEX, API (NEC) Article 501 and 505, and IEC Ex desirable
  • Superior customer-oriented attitude and well-developed verbal and written English communication skills
  • Critical thinking, analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Time and project management skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally on occasional field assignments to supervise and participate in the installation and commissioning of Bardex equipment

SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
Location: Corporate Headquarters, Goleta/Santa Barbara, California

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • Develops successful engineering design concepts and solutions that meet customer specifications, engineering standards, codes, regulations and Company quality standards, and carries concepts through to detail designs.
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget; determines and implements approved means for reducing project costs.
  • Working from customer design specifications, produces preliminary sketches, layouts and assemblies; uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs.
  • Produces design calculations of all equipment, components and material.
  • Performs FEA and manual analysis to assess component material selection, geometric dimensions and tolerances and to demonstrate compliance with thermal, weight and structural requirements.
  • Models and analyzes the technical aspects of designs to ensure design effectiveness.
  • Manages the development of approved designs and coordinates activities with all other project disciplines.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing release.
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  • Prepares engineering packages for submittal to clients and regulatory agencies.
  • May test and commission mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
  • Attends design review meetings; assists in presentations and discussions of the operation, design and testing of Bardex products with customers, sub-contractors, suppliers and others.
  • Performs detailed studies of Requests for Proposal and all inclusive specifications; prepares technical proposals; ensures that concepts of components, assemblies and systems can be manufactured to meet customers’ needs.
  • Proposes design improvements, new concepts and new ideas to improve Bardex products and make them more competitive.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality internal and external customer service.

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
  • Three (3) or more years of successful and increasingly responsible experience in the design and analysis of heavy equipment or machinery
  • Familiar with industrial hydraulics standard design practices
  • Superior Solid Works skills
  • Experience in electrical control systems a plus
  • Experience in strength of materials, stress analysis and design for manufacture a plus
  • Highly creative and able to develop ideas into working products and to conceptualize ideas in three dimensions
  • Results-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time
  • Strong analytical, customer service, and oral and written English communication skills

SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER
Location: Corporate Headquarters, Goleta/Santa Barbara, California


The Role:

  • Plans, schedules, coordinates and completes assigned projects within budget, schedule and quality requirements.
  • Ensures effective communication and coordination between all disciplines and all project participants.
  • Writes detailed design basis for each project; updates design basis with technical scope changes.
  • Reviews product designs for compliance with applicable codes (domestic and international), engineering principals, Company quality standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Evaluates the feasibility of design ideas based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget and production costs/methods; determines and implements means for reducing project costs.
  • Participates and/or leads meetings with customers and contractors, assisting in presentations and discussions of all aspects of the project.
  • Provides oral and written reports of project status to management; conducts design reviews and safety reviews.
  • Analyzes problems, oversees troubleshooting and writes engineering change orders.
  • Determines required tests; documents, oversees and evaluates results.
  • Coordinates design reviews and approve all customer document requirements.
  • Determines all spare parts required for each project.
  • Approves technical requirements for RFQ’s; develops technical proposals; coordinates and approves proposal designs; verifies and estimates scope of work.
  • Stays current on the latest technologies and engineering techniques relating to Bardex products.

Candidates’ qualifications will be considered and weighted on the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 or more years of successful experience as a project engineer involving mechanical design and manufacture of heavy machinery or equipment, preferably including hydraulic equipment.
  • Ability to manipulate drawings using 2D and 3D design software.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills; exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional time management and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring projects in on time and on budget.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, including internationally (US passport required).
  • Local candidates will be preferred.

PURCHASING MANAGER
Location: Corporate Headquarters, Goleta/Santa Barbara, California


The Role:
Our Purchasing Manager directs all Purchasing Department activities and staff to ensure that the procurement of raw materials, standard and specialty parts, equipment, systems, outside production and sub-contract work, services, and supplies meet quality, budget and scheduling requirements; sources, evaluates and manages foreign and domestic suppliers; designs and monitors procurement reporting and tracking systems; negotiates and prepares purchasing contracts and sub-contract proposals and bids.

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics or related field supplemented by training in purchasing and procurement techniques (FAR, DFAR); candidates with a strong technical background and a recognized professional purchasing credential or certification preferred (CPSM, CPP, CPPM or CSCP).
  • 7 or more years of successful and increasingly more responsible experience as a purchasing agent and purchasing manager in a manufacturing environment.
  • Global experience sourcing materials in support of machine manufacturing, including castings, steel, specialty materials, hydraulic components, electric control system components, and standard and specialty machined parts.
  • Extensive experience negotiating domestic and international purchasing contracts and executing critical buys.
  • Successful achievements in cost savings through cost avoidance.
  • Strong personnel management and personnel development skills.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Time and project management skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally to source, establish and monitor suppliers, contractors’ and sub-contractors’ performance.
  • Local area candidates will be preferred.
